Tuition and Fees

The Master's in Technical Communication, Evening Program is a self-sustaining program and does not participate in the Tuition Exemption program. The initial cost is a one-time application fee of $50. Once individuals have been accepted to this program, we anticipate their tuition cost will be approximately $450 per credit. Students who attend full time will take, on average, eight credits per quarter, totaling approximately $3763/quarter, including estimated fees. The cost breakdown is shown here:

$3600 Tuition for eight credits ($450/credit)
$91 Quarterly student activities fee (student insurance, IMA [intramural sports activities] privileges)
$37 Quarterly student technology fee for eight credits
$30 Registration fee
$3763 Total per quarter

The $3763 quarterly total of tuition and fees does not include the cost for books and other course materials, nor for campus parking. An evening parking permit costs $51 per quarter; an option to purchase a permit is included each quarter with course registration forms. Tuition and fees are paid quarter-by-quarter.

Costs are the same whether you are a matriculated student, graduate non-matriculated (GNM) student (see information on Single Course Enrollment), or non-matriculated student.

Third-party payments

Students must pay fees when registering (payment by VISA or MasterCard is accepted). Fees cannot be billed, except for third-party payers; for many working professionals, their employers function as third-party payers. Tuition can be billed only to third-party payers within the United States; students involving a third-party payer must include a purchase order or letter of authorization to bill with the registration form.

Tuition Exemption Program

The University's tuition exemption program does not include the Master's in Technical Communication, Evening Program. The Master's in Technical Communication, Evening Program is a self-sustaining program, administered by the UW Extension and is not funded by the state of Washington.
