Below explain are the explanations of the required materials and the application process for TC's Evening Master's program. If you have any questions regarding these materials or information please contact the a TC adviser. Application materials are available for download on the application page.
The Admission Committee will process and admit students to the evening master's program on a rolling basis from June 1 - July 1, 2008. Students are encouraged to submit applications early. Note: If you have previously taken any classes as a GNM or UCD Certificate student, please notify the Academic Advisor that you have already submitted some or all of the application materials. The deadlines for future quarters are: *Information about Graduate Non-Matriculated (GNM) status. Statement of Qualifications, Goals, and Career Objectives The statement of qualifications, goals and objectives is an important part of the application portfolio. The admissions committee considers content and format when evaluating the statement; it should be no longer than two pages. Your statement should address:
Three (3) letters of recommendation are required. These letters should be from people who can judge the your capacity to undertake graduate studies, including present or former professors, work supervisors, or clients (in the case of consulting assignments). An evaluation form must accompany each recommendation. References can either be sent to the department by the recommender, or gathered and sent with your application packet as long as they remain sealed in their original envelope. A current resume is required. No specific professional background is required to apply, but relevant professional experience is taken into account in an admissions decision. General Information Questionnaire The General Information Questionnaire is used to ensure we have all the details relevant to your application. Each applicant must submit official transcripts from each college level (4-year and 2-year) institution attended. To be considered official transcripts must arrive sealed in their original envelope from the institution that issued them. UW Graduate Admissions requires that all applicants take the GRE General Test. The admissions committee primarily considers the verbal score of the GRE in evaluating applicants. Since April 1999, the General Test is offered only on computer at locations around the world. These test scores are mailed to you and the designated institutions 10-15 days after the test date. In filling out the GRE application, use 4854 (University of Washington) under "Score Report Recipients" and 5199 (TC) for the department code. The University of Washington accepts scores sent directly from ETS in paper roster, disk, or tape format. Official score reports should be sent to UW Graduate Admissions. GRE scores must be no more than five years old. The following resources can give you more information about the GRE:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Applicants whose native language is not English must obtain a satisfactory score on the TOEFL unless they have a university degree from an institution in an English-speaking country. This requirement also applies to immigrant and permanent resident applicants. Like the GRE, the TOEFL is given worldwide at set dates each year at most major universities and many U.S. Consulates and Embassies abroad. Official score reports from the TOEFL should be sent to the UW Graduate Admissions. The TC Department requires that TOEFL scores be no more than two years old. Applications from international students are accepted once a year, to start autumn quarter. To ensure concideration please submit you application by November 1st (note this is three months before the posted deadline).
Request an application packet sent to you: All Evening MS applicants must submit the following materials to be considered for graduate study in our department. All TC Applicants must also submit the following materials to the UW Graduate School:
Acceptance Procedures: If accepted, new students will receive notification from both the TC department and the UW Graduate School. Upon notification of acceptance to the TC Master's Program from the Graduate School, the applicant is asked to pay a $100 deposit. This payment secures your spot at the UW and will be applied to your tuition. Please be aware that in addition to recieving mailings from the TC department and the UW Graduate School, you will also recieve information from UW Extension and the Registrar's Office. New TC students will be invited to an orientation meeting. Detailed information will be mailed to you about this and any other events hosted by the Department.
